Photo Shoots

On friday we had a photo shoot with Charlie's cousin Bethany. They did surprisingly well for being almost 3 months and 6 months old. It's been a lot of fun having a niece that is so close in age to Charlie. They are going to be best cousins :)

Here are some of the shots:

Sleepy babies after the photo shoot. It's hard work to look so good!

Photo shoot #1:
When Charlie was 8 weeks old I brought him to take some 2 month pictures. He woke up happy and all smiles so I quickly loaded him into the car and even though it was only a 5 min drive to the mall he had already fallen asleep by the time we got there. So he was a little serious/sleepy in the pictures. No smiles for the camera this time but he still is pretty cute :)

2 months

My little baby is 2 months old already!! (He's actually almost 10 weeks old!) I still need to post about his 2 month appointment.

2 month stats:
Weight: 12 lbs 5 1/2 oz (50%)
Length: 24 inches (75-90%)
Head circumference: 15 inches (25-50%)

The morning of his 2 month appointment I remembered that he was going to have his 2 month shots. I had forgotten about them! I give shots all the time at the hospital but thinking about my baby going through shots was so sad for me. I think I had more tears than he did but overall he did really well. He didn't get a fever afterward or any other side effects. The rest of the appointment was great- he is a healthy baby!

Charlie is changing so quickly. He is smiling a lot more now, has rolled over twice from tummy to back, head control is improving and has a VERY strong neck, grasps your finger, shirts, kind of holds onto your arm when he is being carried around, is very alert and loves looking at faces. He will follow faces and watch you walk away and then seems surprised when we come back to play with him. He is becoming more vocal and coos a lot, he even chuckled yesterday :) He is more patient and is content playing by himself or playing on his activity mat. I remember the first 6 weeks when he was permanently attached to me and it seemed like I couldn't even set him down to brush my teeth! Charlie you are so much fun! We love you so much!!!

His schedule: Charlie is doing a lot better at sleeping during the night. He will typically wake up between 7-8 am and is on the eat, play, sleep routine. He will be awake for 1-2 hours and then needs a nap. He takes about 3-4 naps per day. He usually eats every 3 hours, but lately in the afternoon or evening if he is taking a good nap he will sleep through a feeding. I've been told to never wake a sleeping baby but some naps are 2.5-4 hrs! He will be ready for bed and go to sleep around 8 pm but then wake up for a last feeding at 11pm. Sometimes he will wake around 2, but we will give him his pacifier back and turn his mobile on and he will fall back asleep. He'll then usually make it until 3-4 am then eat and go right back to sleep until morning. He is pretty good about always napping in his crib but seems to always wake up after 45 min and then need help going back to sleep. If I get him up after that short of a nap he is so tired. Does anyone know how to help them get through that 45 min wake up time? He sleeps in his crib at night and comes to cuddle with us in our bed in the morning so I can get a little more sleep after the morning feeding. (I'm writing more details that I need to share, but then I can remember in the future! :) )

I go back to work in a couple weeks and am not quite sure how I feel about it. I think it will be fine once I start, but I am just really enjoying being home and spending the whole day with my baby. I am so thankful that my aunt is able to watch Charlie for a couple weeks and then my Mother-In-Law Becky will be coming to stay with us for a couple weeks to watch Charlie. Then Brent will be done with school for the summer and can stay home. We just figured out all the details and I think everything will work out great! I am very happy that relatives can hang out with Charlie and just love him up while I am at work. It might make the going back to work a little easier. Until then I will just be enjoying these last few gorgeous weeks at home.

Have a great rest of your week!

Easter Sunday

We had a great Easter this year celebrating with our new baby and my new niece, Bethany. It is so much fun to celebrate holidays with babies- they capture most of the attention during the day. Heather, Dan, and Bethany and my parents came over for the day. We went to church in the morning, had a yummy lunch, dyed easter eggs, and then had a first easter egg hunt with the babies. A fun day!

Hanging out while we dye eggs

Spending time with Aunt Heather and Uncle Dan

We had a photo shoot with bunny ears. The babies just stared at us probably thinking, 'What are you making me wear?'

I'm in love

I'm in love with a 12 lb snuggly baby. I love the slobbery open mouthed kisses. I love the smiles that are becoming more frequent. I love how he thinks mommy and daddy are the most fascinating people in the world. I love my baby.
