Happy Easter

We had a great Easter celebrating the most important holiday, knowing that Christ is Risen! We spent Easter at my sister's house with a lot of family. It was really great to be able to see my grandparents from California since it had been over a year since the last time we saw them. Thanks for hosting Easter Heather!!

Here are photos to show you in pictures what we did:

A few days before Easter we colored the eggs. Another cheesy grin!

Weekend in review

We had a lot of fun celebrating Charlie's birthday all weekend long. We got to play at some fun new places, celebrated Charlie's birthday with his cousins and Heather and Dan, went out to eat, and had a playdate with his buddy Logan on Sunday while we watched the Super Bowl. What a great weekend!

Some pictures and the fun new places we went to:

Chocolate cake....yum! I made this cake for his birthday with our family. I'll be making an Elmo cake when we do his party later.

Yummy!!

Showing off how much he enjoyed his birthday cake

On Friday, Charlie's birthday, we went to Choo Choo Bob's in St. Paul. They had several train tables with lots of trains. In the front of the store they had a few fast electric trains zooming around the tracks...Charlie was about ready to jump into the display and catch them. He loved this place!

On Saturday we spent the afternoon at Edinborough Park with Heather, Dan, Bethany and April. We had a blast! Charlie and Bethany stopped playing and posed for awhile saying "cheese!!!!", they were hamming it up for the camera :)

On Monday, we went to a cute toy/art store called Kiddywampus in Minneapolis. They have fun and unique toys that Charlie loved playing with. Then we went to their Open Studio and Charlie got to create some artwork and do crafts for an hour. He really enjoyed painting on paper on the walls and play with the glitter. We will definately be going back soon!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Charlie!

My little baby boy is two today! I know everyone says that kids grow up fast, but it really seems like just yesterday that I was in labor and Charlie was born!! Thinking about his birthday coming up I was really excited for this milestone. But now that it's here it is kinda bittersweet. I am so proud of my little boy and for the little person he is becoming. But that also means that he isn't my little tiny baby anymore. Of course he will always be my baby....even when he is 16 :)

Today Charlie woke up to balloons outside of his room and found a big new ball for his birthday. He was pretty excited. I heard of people putting a ton of balloons in their kids room on their birthdays so when they would wake up, they would wake up to a room full of balloons. It sounded like fun, but Charlie sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and I didn't want him up at 3am so we opted to balloons outside of his room :) We had waffles with whipped cream and blueberries for breakfast. I put a candle in his and we sang Happy Birthday...he thought that was pretty cool and wanted to do it over and over again. After naptime we are headed to Choo Choo Bobs in St. Paul to play with the train tables. Then a birthday cake and more candles and presents are waiting for him this evening. We are excited to spend his birthday just being together as a family. Over the weekend we are going to get together with my sister and Charlie will get to play with his cousins at an indoor park. How fun to spread the birthday celebration over a few days!

Charlie,
We love you to pieces!! We are so blessed to be your parents and to be able to watch you grow up, guide you, and be there through every step of the way. You are such a happy boy. You love to be active and enjoy everything about any sport. You are constantly on the go, but you always are making sure mommy and daddy are watching you and always stop to give us a quick hug and kiss before continuing to play. You are talking constantly and repeat everything you hear. It's so fun to see you learning new things everyday. I find you quietly singing songs in your room or putting your favorite monkey to 'nigh nigh' by wrapping him up in a blankie and patting it's back. You are such a sweetheart! Happy second birthday Charlie!
Love, Mommy and Daddy

Here are some recent pics of our little two year old!

Videos

I know I know....it's been forever since I updated any pictures or anything on this blog. As the days and weeks went on I got overwhelmed and just decided to not post at all :) Well, hopefully this has broken the writers block and I'll update more often :)

Here are a couple cute videos for your viewing pleasure!
In both of the videos, Charlie is in the bath tub :) It's the only time he is contained and you can keep him in one area long enough for a video :)

The first video was taken on Grandpa Gilchrist's birthday. We taught Charlie the Happy Birthday song and ever since he has been singing it daily :) He only sings "Happy to you"...I guess we'll keep working on getting him to say Birthday. Since his birthday is coming up on Friday, we are trying to get him to say how old he is. When prompted, he'll hold up two fingers and yell "TWO!" I can't believe our little baby will be two on Friday! I didn't tell him he could grow up this fast...
Anyways...here is the first video:

The second video was taken after Christmas sometime. When we were in Tennessee, Charlie was watching his uncle Troy shave one day and thought it was pretty fun. So this video is of Charlie shaving. No worries, the safety cover is on, so no concern of him actually getting hurt :)
Enjoy!

We are enjoying this beautiful day! The sparkly snow, bright sunshine, and the mild temperature. Hope everyone has a good week!
